Itsuro J. Uchino, M.D., FACS.

Dr. Uchino is board certified in General Surgery by the American Board of Medical Specialties with over 30 years of surgical experience and he is Board Certified and a Diplomat in the American College of Phlebology. His current practice is now specialized in all aspects of venous disorders and vein disease, including non-surgical as well as surgical treatment. He is currently on staff at Washington County Hospital in Hagerstown, Maryland, ranked one of the top 100 hospitals in the United States. Dr. Uchino is a graduate of the Tokyo Medical School. His surgical training included internship at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady, NY and surgical residency at Mt. Sinai Hospital in New York City and Cook County Hospital in Chicago, Illinois. Dr. Uchino was Assistant Professor of Surgery at Chicago Medical School in Illinois from 1980 – 1995. He has been practicing in Hagerstown, Maryland since 1996.

Dr. Uchino presented his paper “Incompetent Perforators of the Foot” at the UIP World Congress/American College of Phlebology meeting in San Diego, California on August 28, 2003. He has written and published several scientific papers on topics including:

Endovenous Laser Closure of Perforating Veins of the Leg

Dr. Uchino’s professional associations include: Fellow, American College of Surgeons; member, American College of Phlebology; and member, International College of Angiology.

Nursing Staff

Marilyn Uchino, R.N., C.R.N.A., B.S.

Marilyn is a graduate of St. John’s School of Nursing. She obtained her B.S. degree from the University of Illinois and received her advanced practice degree (C.R.N.A.) from Ravenswood Hospital/DePaul University in Chicago, Illinois. She has been on staff at New York University Hospital in New York City, New York and Northwestern University Hospital in Chicago, Illinois. Marilyn is presently on staff at Washington County Hospital in Hagerstown, Maryland and the Center for Vein Medicine. She has over 30 years of nursing experience and is also a wife and mother. And yes, Dr. Uchino is her husband.

Sue Breeden, R.N., A.A

Sue received her A.A. degree from Hagerstown Community College and also attended Shepherd College. She has over 27 years of nursing experience. She has been with the Center for Vein Medicine for 18 years and absolutely excels in the art of sclerotherapy.

Administrative Staff

Diana Hultz, Office Manager

Diana has been with us since 2007 managing all aspects of the office . She works closely with patients and their insurance to make sure that all requirements are met, coordinate benefits and maximize reimbursement. Diana oversees the smooth running of the office with efficiency and ease. Patients find her to be honest and easy to work with in navigating the difficulties with insurance companies. We are lucky to have her as part of our team.

Lisa Weller, Receptionist

Lisa has been with us since 2008 welcoming patients to our practice. You will usually find Lisa at the front desk multitasking answering phones, scheduling patients,coordinating paperwork and charts.Lisa does this with efficiency and ease as well.

All in all we are proud of our team at the Center for Vein Medicine. We consider ourselves a family and each of us with an important task contributing to the success of this practice. We try to impart this to our patients, treating them as we would treat our family as well.
